Yes. The WIMOB SCOOT is approved in the L1e-B category and falls precisely under the "light cyclomobile" (electric balance bikes) classification defined by decree n?2022-31 (France). It is therefore authorised to travel on public roads, unlike a non-approved vehicle restricted to private land.
No, no licence is required. As a light cyclomobile, the WIMOB SCOOT follows EDPM (personal mobility device) rules: neither a car licence nor a moped licence (BSR) is required. This is a major difference from 45 km/h speed bikes, which do require a licence.
No. Light cyclomobiles are exempt from registration: no registration document or plate is needed. This is one of the major advantages of the WIMOB SCOOT over a classic moped or scooter.
Yes. The WIMOB SCOOT is a motorised land vehicle: third-party liability insurance is mandatory before any use, exactly as with an electric scooter. Remember to take out a policy as soon as you receive your vehicle.
In built-up areas, on cycle paths and green lanes, a helmet is not mandatory but is strongly recommended for your safety. A reflective vest or equipment is, however, mandatory at night or in low visibility.
The WIMOB SCOOT may use cycle paths and lanes as well as roads limited to 50 km/h in built-up areas (priority to cycling infrastructure where available). Outside built-up areas, riding is restricted to green lanes and cycle paths. Pavements, motorways and expressways remain off-limits.
Light cyclomobile regulations set the minimum age at 12, with no licence required. However, WISPEED recommends use from age 14. The WIMOB SCOOT is a single-seater: carrying a passenger is not permitted.
The WIMOB SCOOT offers up to 40 km of range thanks to its 36V / 13Ah lithium battery. Real-world range varies depending on rider weight, terrain, weather, and the riding mode chosen among the 3 available speeds.
Allow around 7 hours for a full charge on a standard mains socket with the supplied charger. It's best to charge it overnight so you can set off with 100% range every morning.
Yes. Thanks to its IPX5 water-resistance rating, the WIMOB SCOOT withstands splashes and showers: you can ride confidently in wet weather. However, avoid submersion, deep puddles and prolonged parking in the rain.
